The Maternity Teacher Paternity Teacher Project

The MTPT Project - Information Event - Generate Teaching Hub

As part of a regional Teaching School Hub and NEU partnership on the South Coast, HISP Teaching School Hub and the HISP Learning Partnership are proud to be supporting The Maternity Teacher Paternity Teacher Project.

MTPT – NOWRE现客

Inspiring, empowering and connecting teachers choosing to complete CPD on parental leave.

The information below pertains to two nationally-funded opportunities:

  • Return to Work workshops
  • Parental Leave group coaching programme

Both programmes are now fully-funded for state school teachers in all regions in England, thanks to Teaching School Hub partners (including HISP Teaching School Hub).

Paid access (£45/£120) is also available to colleagues in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, and colleagues in independent schools.

These events are open to support staff, leaders and Central Trust staff, not just teachers! This includes fathers who have taken an extended period of parental leave.

Return to Work workshops

As part of a regional Teaching School Hub partnership on the South Coast, HISP Teaching School Hub is proud to be supporting The MTPT Project’s Return to Work Workshops throughout the academic year 2024-25.

This 90-minute interactive webinar offers colleagues on the South Coast the opportunity to prepare logistically and emotionally for a confident return to work following a period of maternity, adoption or shared parental leave.

Ensuring the programme is fully-funded for state school colleagues is just one of the ways that HISP Teaching School Hub is addressing recommendations in the recent Missing Mothers report by The New Britain Project and The MTPT Project, which found that only 38% of mother-teachers surveyed were satisfied with the maternity leave and transition support provided by their school.

Hannah Dunn, a primary teacher based in West Sussex attended a Return to Work workshop in the winter of 2024.  She said the workshop was “a very good experience” that gave her a sense of community and lots of ideas about how to manage home and work life upon her return.

Hannah really appreciated the activities on identifying and clarifying boundaries included in the workshop and left feeling more informed about her legal entitlements and how to discuss her return to work with her line manager.

Find out more about The MTPT Project’s fully-funded Return to Work workshops, including upcoming dates (also see below) and other regional Teaching School Hub sponsors on Eventbrite.
