Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Status

BPN will be offering a Specialist SEND HLTA course from Autumn 2025. The programme will cover the same standards and participants will acquire the same status as those on the standard HLTA Status course, but preparation will be focused on the context of specialist provision. This is perfect for individuals working in special schools or specialist units within mainstream schools. This will be delivered and assessed by a range of SEND experts, ensuring we continue to provide the highest quality and learning experience for our participants.

Participants will also have the option from Autumn 2025 to attend preparation sessions delivered as twilight sessions from 4-5:30pm. Whilst BPN believe school staff should ideally be able to access professional development during school time, they understand that with pressures in schools this is not always possible, and they want to ensure their HLTA Status courses are accessible to all.

Fast-track to HLTA Status

BPN's fast-track HLTA course is also available to any TAs who have completed the TAL3 or STAL5 apprenticeship with BPN.
